 Jerry Goralnick & Lois Kagan Mingus The Living Theatre Workshops New York, NY April 11, 2006 Dear Lois and Jerry: It will soon be a year since you and the team from The Living Theatre Workshops spent a week in residence with our Department of Theatre, and I can still see the effects of your visit. In a recent Studio Theatre production of Oedipus Rex, the cast performed 'The Plague' (which they learned during your visit), as a prologue to the play-As it turns out, several members of that production were participants in your week long workshop. It became a way for that group of people to express symbolically the ills of a society. I am writing to thank you for your time with us. The Living Theatre Workshops was invited because of a concern I have had for using theatrical methods to deal with social, political and religious issues. Judging from what I see students doing this year and from the feed back from participants, I think that your work here has greatly contributed to the enlightenment and development of our students. I am enclosing copies of the evaluations written by student participants in last year's workshop. As you will notice, the response was overwhelmingly positive.
